Remembering Jacob

Jacob Dunan Neff, 74, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on May 19, 1951 in Wichita, KS, he was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was known for his amazing cooking, love of the Chiefs football team, some tasty cocktails and his depth of knowledge. Those who knew him called him J.D. or Jake. He was honest, a realist and passionate with an unwavering loyalty to those he cared about.

Jake dedicated 35 years to building a home repairs and remodeling business, Neff's Quality Home Repairs & Remodeling. He enjoyed cooking which inspired a restaurant career early on in his life. Some of his favorite dishes included: Prime rib, Lasagna, Chili, Banana Bread, Enchiladas, Pecan Tassies, Coleslaw, and more. He loved playing in the stock market and keeping current with news and politics. He often shared his love for these activities with family and friends.

He is survived by his sister, Tamara Breeden, ex-wives Laura Miller and Diane Neff, children, Jaime Kemper (Derek Kemper spouse to Jaime), Jacob Neff, his step-children, Andrew Bratt (Devan Bratt spouse to Andrew), Alexis Brodek (Terry Brodek spouse to Alexis), Skyler Long and Levi Long; his grandchildren, Lilian Kemper, Luke Kemper, Landon Kemper, Cassidy Bratt, Brianne Bratt, Jonathan Brodek and Loren Brodek. He was preceded in death by his parents Orin and Barbara Neff, his brother Brent Neff and brother in law, Kenneth Breeden.

A Memorial and Balloon Release will be held on February 16, 2026 at Veteran's Memorial Park and River Walk. Jake found peace at the River, looking over at the Keeper of the Plains. Family and friends are invited here as a tribute to Jake's life. As we say goodbye, our hope and prayer is that with each balloon sent into the sky, each person feels a sense of peace.

A second Memorial Service will be held at a future date (TBD) in Vancouver, WA with refreshments to follow at the Kemper's home (address to be provided at services).

The family requests donations to Epic Church (https://www.epicchurch.us/give) in Wichita, Kansas in Jacob Neff's memory in lieu of flowers. The pastor, elders and church family at Epic were a huge support to Jake and his family in his final days. We, the family, are forever grateful and believe that their support and the love of Jesus provided peace to Jake in his final days here on Earth.
